Oral Surgeon Free X Ray

What to Expect at Your Free Consultation

We currently offer all new patients free oral surgery consultations. This includes a free X-Ray and other benefits (certain conditions apply)! Contact us for more details.

Not every oral surgery appointment will be the same. You can anticipate that your dentist will give you a detailed outline of every possible treatment for your dental issue. Dental Implants Clinic will recommend the best procedure for your unique case before any work is done. Please note that many oral surgeries, like wisdom teeth removal and dental implants procedures, require either local or general anesthesia to make them as pain-free as possible. In the initial consultation, we will discuss different sleep dentistry options and choose the one you are most comfortable with.

Once your procedure is completed, we will provide you with an optimal healing plan and schedule check-ups as needed.

Oral Surgery Toronto FAQ’s

What is oral surgery?

Oral surgery is defined as any surgery carried out in the mouth and jaw area by a trained specialist. Oral surgeons know how to treat maxillofacial (neck, face, jaw and mouth) illnesses and injuries such as hard and soft tissue issues. These highly-trained specialists understand not only dentistry but general medicine and surgery. The most common oral surgery is tooth extraction. The oral surgeons at Dental Implants Clinic are highly-certified to perform any oral surgery with ease and ensure all our patients are comfortable and leave with a smile.

What to eat after oral surgery?

Each oral surgery will have different levels of aftercare instructions provided by your dental specialists at Bond Street Dental Implants Toronto. For most oral surgeries, we recommend eating very soft foods that don’t require a lot of chewing for up to a week after surgery. Typically patients resume their regular diet after this first week. However, for more invasive surgeries like a gum graft, you may not be able to eat hard foods for a couple of weeks, and it is recommended that you do not drink through a straw to irritate the gums. If you follow your oral surgeon’s plan of action, you’ll be back to eat the foods you love in no time!

How long does it take for oral surgery to heal?

It depends on the oral surgery. For example, after a dental implants procedure, it can take anywhere from two to nine months for the titanium implants to fuse to your jawbone properly. For any tooth extraction or root canal, pain and swelling will typically subside after four days (if you even experience pain or swelling). If you follow your oral surgeon’s specific instructions closely and take care of your oral health, you should make a speedy recovery.

What are the types of dental surgery?

There are various types of dental surgery such as root canals, fillings, tooth extractions, dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, wisdom teeth removal and bone grafting.

What is the difference between a periodontist and an oral surgeon?

Periodontists are experts at dental implants and patients’ gum health, including procedures like gum grafts. Oral surgeons perform procedures on the mouth and jaw. Some of these procedures will overlap at times, but the two professions make up different dentistry occupations.  Dental Implants Clinic is thrilled to have a resident periodontist, Dr. Kohli, who specializes in the precise placement of dental implants and diagnosing, preventing and treating gum diseases.
